Take Action
The Chesapeake Bay watershed
has been a dynamic center of ecological and human activity for
thousands of years. Current trends, which convert natural resource
lands to developed lands, use this land at more than twice the
rate of population growth. This threatens to overwhelm the Bay's
capacity to absorb and clean the resultant pollution. If we
take action now, we have the ability to accommodate the projected
growth of the next 30 years without severely degrading our quality
of life or the Bay.
To reach the future we want requires motivated, informed
citizens to promote environmentally and economically sound
development patterns. The choice is ours and the tools are
available for us to make and act upon those choices. We can
choose a better way to grow and, in the process, Save the
Bay.
