Help Make Public Policy
Planning Policy and Practice
One of the best ways
to initiate change in local development patterns is by investing
some time at the municipal, county, or township planning office
getting familiar with the local Master or Comprehensive Plan,
the zoning maps and ordinances, and subdivision regulations.
Land use and development decisions, throughout much of the watershed,
are guided by the planning and zoning policies and regulations
in place locally. The schematic below provides a general overview
of the planning process. For more detailed information about
your specific area, refer to the planning agency source list.
