Following our region's historic pattern of focusing growth in and around existing towns and cities offers people more choices in how they get around and fully utilizes our public investment in roads, transit, water and sewer while minimizing pollution, habitat loss, and fragmentation of rural lands throughout the region. Current trends, in Prince George's and Anne Arundel counties, is projected to result in a 22 percent loss of farm, forest, and wetlands. However, if we choose a different future and follow more aggressive growth management practices those lands would be reduced only 7 percent.
